In our planning meeting this morning, we were reminded of the virtue and power of second chances. Last night, the Ravens showed grit and perseverance (especially in the second half) in their rematch against the New England Patriots; in two weeks, they will play in their second Super Bowl. Later this morning, Barack Obama will be sworn in (for the second time, after yesterday’s official ceremony) for his second term – a second chance for his presidency and the country.
We were also reminded this morning of how our clients – and our work – offer second chances. On Sunday, The Women’s Housing Coalition will open its newest residence for formerly homeless women and their children – providing a true “second chance” to achieve independence. As we promote a new season of educational and fitness programs at the Myerberg Center, we are encouraging older adults to “do what you always dreamed of doing” – an exciting chance for them to explore and learn. We are preparing for the first of the three boat shows we will promote in the coming month – in Atlantic City – offering those hit by Hurricane Sandy an opportunity to recreate the joy they get from life on the water. And we will welcome a new Associate – a former intern who will bring new ideas and energy as he begins his second stint with us.
