Last evening, we put on our elf ears and volunteered at the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. We sorted and packaged the toys that had been donated for 1,400 families in Baltimore. It was a fun way for us to spend the night together, and satisfying to know that we were helping to make the holidays happier for deserving children in our city.
This year, our holiday cheer came without ribbons or wrapping. In the midst of our busy season, it was nice to reflect on how fortunate we are, and to give our time to others.
